It’s Christmas time and we are celebrating on the LSO radio show, The Joy of the Orchestra with the LaGrange Symphony’s Richard Prior, in a big way. To our wonderful listening audience, thank you for tuning in these past weeks! Our wishes for everyone are comfort and joy as you listen to this special Christmas treat on Tuesday, December 15th at 7:30 PM on WELR (Eagle 102.3 FM). This is the final episode for this calendar year and this series of episodes. The hour-long radio show for this week can be described as being in two distinct halves.
The first half will air Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. Visions from this wonderful ballet will most likely appear in your mind as you listen. Although first performed way back in 1892, for many today, Christmas is not complete without this delightful music. It captures all the emotions of the holiday while it captures your heart. A timeless classic and a must-have for a “Classical Christmas.”
The second half is a “Festival of Carols.” It consists of original works and arrangements by John Rutter, featuring The Cambridge Singers and the City of London Sinfonia. The music heard in this episode is also conducted by John Rutter. As you know, it is always a good sign when the composer conducts! This music is guaranteed to reflect exactly what was intended, and the entire December 15th episode will be magical. Merry Christmas everyone from the LSO! Maestro Richard Prior gives insight into different music each week. These featured works are from live performances by the LaGrange Symphony and by other notable Orchestras. This LSO radio show will run until Mid-December.
