MUSICIANS IN SCHOOL
THE MOMENT OF MUSIC
The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra creates the moment of music in local schools with its Musicians in School program, which sends small ensembles into area classrooms, reaching hundreds of children annually.
The Orchestra Board is committed to the Musicians in School program and, mindful of continuing budgetary challenges for school arts programs, seeks to expand its outreach as additional funding is available.

Celeste Myall, the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra conductor, is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music. She taught for eight summers at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Camp, a camp for students from 10 to 18. She served on the faculty of Belmont University, where she founded and directed String Crossings Camp, a nationally recognized multi-style camp for high school students which grew in six years from 16 campers to 42 campers on all strings instruments. She also taught violin, chamber music and served as conductor for Belmont Music Theater.
Ms. Myall performed in the Festival of Two Worlds Orchestra in Spoleto, Italy, was a member of the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and served for fifteen years as concertmaster of the Abilene Philharmonic. She was previously on the faculty of Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, where she conducted the Abilene Collegiate Orchestra and founded the Abilene Youth Orchestra which grew to 60 members during her tenure. She has conducted many high school clinics and all region orchestras in Texas and Tennessee.
