Celebrating Our 2026 Young Artists Competition Winners
This year’s competition marked the 30th anniversary of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition and brought together an exceptionally accomplished group of nine finalists from across the region and beyond. These young musicians represented a remarkable range of training, experience, and artistic maturity, with many already performing as soloists with orchestras, earning top prizes in national and international competitions, and studying with distinguished teachers. The depth of preparation and musical insight on display made this one of the strongest and most competitive fields in the history of the competition.

The 2026 Esteemed Panel
Each year, finalists are evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges whose own careers reflect the highest levels of professional artistry and leadership. This year the judges included Amy Schwartz Moretti, Director of the McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University and founding member of the Ehnes Quartet, and Dr. Richard Prior, Music Director and Conductor of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra and an award-winning composer. Together they compiled thoughtful, expert perspectives on each performance. The exceptional standard set by the finalists made the judges’ task especially challenging. One of the valuable aspects of the Young Artists Competition is the opportunity for participants to receive thoughtful, individualized feedback from seasoned professionals. These comments are offered in a supportive and encouraging spirit, with the goal of helping each young musician continue to refine their artistry, build on their strengths, and grow in confidence as they move forward in their musical journeys.
