In our efforts to design the art that will be used to promote our annual event, My Favorite Things, we are asking for help from the very persons we support…you, the students. My Favorite Things is an annual fundraising event sponsored by The Lagrange Symphony Guild. The efforts of this group of volunteers have contributed support to the LaGrange Children’s Orchestra, as well as music lessons, and securing instruments for area young musicians. Local businesses also help sponsor this event, and along with vendors, silent auctions, and donations, the event raised over $40,000 last year alone. The subject for your art entry is Music! Music in our schools, music in your life, music as played by our youth; children’s orchestra music. Illustrate the joy of music in your art!
Guidelines for the Contest
- Entries should focus on music and/or student musicians/children’s orchestra.
- Entries will be judged in three categories: Grades 3-5, Grades 6-8, Grades 9-12
- Entries should be submitted on a standard size art paper or canvas: 8X10, 9X12, or 11X14 inches
- Artist’s name and contact information must be legibly written on the back side of their art in order to be accepted.
- Entries must be submitted to the LaGrange Art Museum, 112 Lafayette Parkway in Lagrange, April 22 to May 9, 2025, and accompanied by a release form. The release form is important as the winners’ art will be considered for marketing purposes.
Awards: Cash prizes of $100 will be awarded to first place winners in each of the three age categories. Awards will also include ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in each group, as well as gift cards for the runners up. The entries will also be honored by having their art considered for publication in My Favorite Things promotional materials. Following the announcement of the winners, The Lagrange Art Museum, along with the LaGrange Symphony Guild, will host an exhibit of all entries at a future date. Dates and times for pick-up of your artwork entry will be sent following the exhibit.
Families: Please consider involvement in The LaGrange Symphony Guild. Not only do we need your assistance for My Favorite Things, but we also need your creative ideas for bringing attention to the arts programs in our schools and for fundraising too. We need your involvement and vision to keep this effort going and growing for generations to come. The Guild meets once a month from 6-7PM, 6-8 months of the year. Whether you are a parent of a young musician, related to a music student, or a supporter of arts programs in our schools, please consider joining us.
