March Concert 2023

Annual Side-by-Side 3/21/23

The March 21st concert, appropriately titled “EDUCATION” has reserved the first three pieces as the side-by-side performance. This concert also contains a full lineup with two other guest artists appearing. The time is 7:30 PM and the location is Callaway Auditorium in LaGrange, GA.

Our Youth Symphony will perform side-by-side with our professional musicians to gain real experience. These students practice these pieces with their music teachers and LSYO director, Michael Giel. Then they rehearse and perform just as a professional. They sit next to one of our LSO musicians and are conducted by Maestro Richard Prior. They read the same music, and follow the same cues. Our youth take this very seriously and consider it quite an honor. Professional levels are expected, not only in the performance of the music, but also in presentation, dynamics, etiquette, punctuality, and attitude. This year marks a return back from the pandemic to a normal schedule. Our last side-by-side was held in 2019. All of our students are high school age or younger.
