Congratulations Traian Sturza!

Traian Sturza

The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra would like to extend congratulations to Traian Sturza in being a finalist who will perform in the Prizewinners Concert of the 2021 International Aeolus Competition that will take place tomorrow.  (Concert Live Link information below for Sunday September 19, 2021)

Traian was a first place winner in the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition.  As a first place winner, Traian performed with the LSO at the spring concert in April of 2016.  He played Mozart: Bassoon Concerto in B-flat Major during the Passion & Power concert.  You can read more about this concert in the April 2016 Concert review HEREA snippet from that review: This piece featured bassoonist Traian Sturza, winner of the Dorothy Allen Turner award.  Played with fluid and expressive talent, this piece mesmerized the audience.   The extreme breath control and stamina required to perform this piece with three movements was phenomenal.

Traian has also performed with the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra for a few seasons as second bassoon, and is a graduate of the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University.  Thank you to the Schwob School of Music for this photo, and for the following link information for the Prizewinners Concert!

The concert will be live-streamed Sunday September 19 at 5am EST, (and will remain viewable at that link later in the day!). Sturza will perform the Hummel Bassoon Concerto with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra. The link below will be active when the concert begins:
Traian is currently a fellow in the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestral Training Academy. He studied Bassoon Performance at Schwob with Dr. Ronald Wirt and Dr. Stephanie Willow Patterson, followed by graduate studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München with Dag Jensen.
