Music Lesson Faculty:
Sarah Davis Gworek – Cello / Violin / Viola
Cellist, violist, and violinist, Sarah Gworek, was born and raised in the western desert of Nevada to a family of 8 children. She was homeschooled her entire life and when she turned 14, her mother helped her start an online jewelry business. This business thrived and eventually provided her with the means to support her future aspirations in music as well as purchasing a vehicle and home for her family.
Mrs. Gworek discovered her love for music in 2010 and after receiving a violin from her oldest sister, began studying with Marina Volynets. Before the first year was over, she heard a recording of a cello performance and instantly fell in love. She purchased a cello and began studying with Vadim Volynets in 2012.
In 2013, her oldest sister discovered a volunteer orchestra in Milledgeville Georgia, and encouraged Sarah to audition. The Oconee Regional Symphony Orchestra accepted her as a violinist and only one month later, she began playing as a community member for the Georgia College string orchestra. These two ensembles changed her life and convinced her that her calling was in music.
In 2016, Mrs. Gworek began her undergraduate degree in Music Education at Georgia College & State University. Her primary instructor was Barbara Altman and in 2017, she began studying viola with Dr. William McClain. During this same year, she founded the GC&SU String Quartet and served as cellist and manager until 2019 when their two violinists graduated. As well as managing and performing in the quartet, Mrs. Gworek co-founded and taught Putnam Strings at Putnam County Elementary School. This was an after-school music program that provided students with instruments, books, and training every Tuesday. As well as teaching at Putnam County Elementary School, Mrs. Gworek was able to teach at Killian Hill Christian School for a semester in her senior year where she taught violin, viola, cello, and orchestra lessons and classes. In addition to these two teaching opportunities, she became the private string instructor at the Greenwood School of Music in Macon where she started with one cello student.
Mrs. Gworek graduated from GC&SU in 2020 and immediately began her goal of a masters in cello performance. She began her graduate studies at the Schwob School of Music in 2020 and studied with Wendy Warner, Dr. Katrin Meidell, and Paul Hostetter. She graduated with a masters in cello performance in 2022 and completed an artist diploma at the Schwob School of Music in 2024. During this diploma, she served as the cello graduate assistant to Wendy Warner and played in both the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Lagrange Symphony Orchestra.
Mrs. Gworek now lives in Lagrange, GA, with her Husband, Dr. Nathaniel Gworek. She serves as the Orchestra teacher at LaGrange High School while he serves as the Orchestra teacher at Callaway High School. Both are members of the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra.
Sam Lee – Violin / Viola / Piano
Sam Lee has been a part of the LaGrange music community since January of 1990 when he played in the first concert of the LaGrange College – Community Orchestra which became the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra later that year. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Violin Performance from Columbus State University and a Master’s of Music Theory from Georgia State University. He studied violin under Oliver Steiner.
In the Fall of 1996, Mr. Lee began teaching Strings at LaGrange Academy. He is the founding conductor of the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra, which originally began under his direction, as an affiliate of the Lafayette Society for Performing Arts, in 1997. He has played in many regional orchestras, including the Columbus Symphony, Carroll Symphony, and LaGrange Symphony, as well as being a regular free-lance musician. Mr. Lee frequently performs as violin/viola soloist, including many engagements with the Choral Society of West Georgia. He currently is the Director of the String Ensemble of the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra, and teaches Strings at LaGrange Academy as well as for the LaGrange Symphony Youth String Program.
Mr. Lee is a native of Atlanta and currently resides in East Point, Georgia.
Celeste Myall – Violin and Viola
Celeste Myall is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music where she was a scholarship graduate student of renowned violin teacher Raphael Bronstein and of the University of Kansas where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She performed in the Festival of Two Worlds Orchestra in Charleston, SC during the festival’s first season in the U.S., as well as in Spoleto, Italy, and served for fifteen years as concertmaster of the Abilene Philharmonic in Abilene, TX, where she served on the School of Music faculty at Hardin-Simmons University.
While at HSU, Ms. Myall played in The Simmons Trio (a faculty piano trio) and the Abilene Chamber players, taught violin, and chamber music, and conducted the Abilene Collegiate Orchestra, a full symphony orchestra composed of students from the three local universities—Hardin Simmons, McMurray, and Abilene Christian. In addition to her duties at the university, she taught for eight summers at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks Summer Fine Arts Camp and founded and conducted the Abilene Youth Orchestra.
Following her move to Nashville, TN in 2001, Ms. Myall performed as a member of Orchestra Nashville (previously Nashville Chamber Orchestra) and the Belmont Camerata, a faculty chamber group. She served on the faculty of Belmont University where she taught violin and chamber music and conducted the Belmont Music Theater productions. While at Belmont, she founded String Crossings, a nationally recognized multi-style summer camp for strings which, under the direction of one of her former violin students, continues today to draw middle and high school string players from across the nation.
Ms. Myall, who fulfilled a demanding schedule for 10 years as First Lady of LaGrange College, often played in the Columbus and LaGrange Symphony orchestras, including a 2017 solo performance of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons – Winter. From 2012-2021, she served as the conductor of the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra as well as the Director of Educational Programs for the LSO, while also teaching private violin lessons through the LSO’s string program. Since 2025, Ms. Myall has participated as an LSO resource in support of the Troup County School System’s Orchestra programs, providing coaching and mentoring for String Faculty and students. She teaches private lessons to violin students as well as sectional coaching for the students in the LSO’s Youth String Ensemble.
As orchestral clinician, Ms. Myall has conducted numerous high school clinics and all region orchestras in Texas and Tennessee. She is the author of the violin chapter in the book The Instrumental Resource, a book designed to help high school choral directors and music ministers develop a pragmatic understanding of how to work with orchestral musicians and instruments.
