Premiere of “Canticle of Shadows” at Emory

Dr. Richard Prior’s orchestral composition A Canticle of Shadows is slated to premiere at Emory University, Emerson Concert Hall, tomorrow night January 20th at 8PM. It will be performed by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, whose photo is shown here. Orpheus is one of the world’s foremost chamber orchestras and will be a delight to hear.

Dr. Prior is conductor and musical director for the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra, LaGrange GA.  The LSO, along with renowned flutist Jonathan Keeble, premiered his wonderful work Concerto for Flute and Orchestra in September, 2016, which was a huge success.

In tomorrow night’s performance, Dr. Prior’s work draws inspiration from images emanating from the migrant crisis in Europe and the conflict zones of Syria, Eastern Ukraine, and the Middle East.  The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra supports Dr. Prior’s composing talents and is proud to promote his latest endeavor. We are confident this will be another superb premiere.
