Structure and Leadership

The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra is a publicly-supported 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization.  The organization consists of both the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and the LaGrange Symphony Youth Orchestra (LSYO) and together are governed by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors.  This Board, which supplies strategic guidance and long-term planning, has been selected from the local community, and from the orchestra with representation from varying areas of expertise.  The Executive Committee consists of a President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Immediate Past-President.  The President position is a two-year term, after which the President-Elect moves into the new role of President and Vice-President moves to President-Elect.  At that time a new Vice-President is carefully chosen from the group of Directors. This provides the President with a minimum of five years experience within the organization and indispensable support from Past-Presidents.

The Music Director/Conductor is a member of the Board ex officio, and reports to the Executive Committee. They select music and arrange performances, lead rehearsals and conduct performances.

The Executive Director is a member of the Board ex officio, and reports to the Executive Committee.  They oversee staff, all day-to-day operational decisions, and are responsible for driving overall organizational advancements that are specified by the Executive Committee.  They meet regularly with the Board and are responsible for marketing, fundraising, program development, HR management, and accounting.

The Director of Educational Outreach is a member of the Board ex officio, and reports to the Executive Director.  They are responsible for overseeing the Youth and Educational programs of the organization.
