ROBERT (BOB) CULBRETH
JULY 23, 1955 – OCTOBER 14, 2016
On October 14, 2016, the LaGrange Symphony Orchestra lost a long-time member of our orchestra family, a friend to many and a genuinely great guy. Robert (Bob) Lewis Culbreth, age 61, of Newnan, passed away with his family by his side.
Our hearts are greatly saddened by his death. We are also tremendously blessed to have known him, been touched by his amazing talent, benefitted from his clever wit, and witnessed his living faith.
Bob has been a member of our orchestra family for many years. He served as principle clarinetist, played clarinet and bass clarinet, and could always be counted on to help where needed. He has long been a supporter of our Musicians in Schools program and was instrumental in helping build a relationship between our youth orchestra and the high school woodwind and brass musicians of Coweta county who have been such a large part of our youth orchestra for the past several Springs.
Many of our patrons will recognize him as a frequent participant in LaGrange College musical orchestras and the orchestra for the annual Lessons in Carols.
Bob was a band director for many years, a U.S. Army Veteran, a professional clarinetist, and a member of First Baptist Church of Newnan. He is survived by his wife Staci, the LSO’s current principal clarinetist, and two daughters, Hannah, formerly the French horn principal of our youth orchestra who now studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, and Sarah, a high school student.
The LaGrange Symphony Orchestra joins his family in celebrating the life of Bob Culbreth.
